Thanks to a generous donation by Cr\u00e9dit Suisse, in 2005 a \u201csecond pinacoteca\u201c was created on the third floor: a bright space \u2013 organized by schools of painting and subject matter, with complete display apparatus \u2013 regularly open to the public. Housed here are the works of the collection for which there is no space on the two lower floors, which the structural and decorative renovation of the late 18th century altered with respect to their arrangement under Cardinal Scipione Borghese, with the consequence that it is no longer possible to display the entire catalogue of works there.<\/p>\n<p>About 260 works are displayed on two levels in the large storage area. In the external corridor there are large canvases painted by Raphael\u2019s followers, including the splendid <strong>Madonna with Child<\/strong> by Scipione Pulzone, a <strong>Venus on a black background<\/strong> by Baldassarre Peruzzi, the <strong>Madonna with Child<\/strong> by Perin del Vaga, and a copy of the famous <strong>Alba Madonna<\/strong> in the National Gallery in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along the walls of the middle room, dedicated to the 16th and 17th centuries are displayed, among others, the Sleeping Venus by Girolamo Pennacchi; the\u00a0<\/span><b>Christ Carrying the Cross<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a majestic painting historically attributed to Sebastiano del Piombo but currently to Giovanni De Vecchi in consequence of its recent restoration; <\/span><b><i>Joseph tells the meaning of the prisoner\u2019s dreams<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><b><i> Saint Rocco<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, probably conceived when the painter was working in the Palazzo Borghese in Campo Marzio; some<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> paintings by the\u00a0<\/span><b>Caracci<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0and the\u00a0<\/span><b>Three Ages of Man<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, after Titian, by Sassoferrato.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the middle room is located the <strong>Entombment of Christ<\/strong> by Passignano, on the upper floor is the <strong>Flagellation of Christ<\/strong> by Giovanni Baglione, the biographer of Caravaggio. Smaller paintings are exhibited in the display cases.
