The Galleria Borghese Museum houses and exhibits a collection of ancient sculptures, bas-reliefs, and mosaics, as well as paintings and sculptures from the 15th to the 19th centuries. Among the masterpieces, whose first and most important core collection dates back to Cardinal Scipione (1579\u20131633), the nephew of Pope Paul V, are works by Caravaggio, Raphael, Titian, Correggio, Antonello da Messina, Giovanni Bellini, and sculptures by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Antonio Canova.
