The exhibition features\u00a0 both monumental and small scale sculptures made from materials such as bronze, Carrara marble and\u00a0 malachite. <\/span><b>Hirst\u2019s Colour Space paintings, exhibited for the first time in Italy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, are also be presented\u00a0 together with the permanent collection, while <\/span><b>his colossal sculpture, Hydra and Kali, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is displayed\u00a0 outdoors in the <\/span><b>Giardino Segreto of the Uccelliera<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project was made possible thanks to the <\/span><b>generous support of Prada<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which investigates areas of\u00a0 research such as art, architecture, philosophy and literature with the aim of developing innovative lan guages and projects, in a continuous dialogue with the broader scenarios of contemporaneity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hirst\u2019s works\u00a0are displayed throughout Galleria Borghese, a museum with a superb collection of mas terpieces of classical Roman sculpture, Italian paintings of the Renaissance and the 17th century, and\u00a0 the most important works of Bernini and Canova. At the same time \u2013 and this is its uniqueness \u2013 it is\u00a0 a place with rich, ornate interiors of marble, stuccos and mosaics. The works by Hirst complements the\u00a0 range of inventions and techniques seen in the museum\u2019s collection, showcasing the artist\u2019s incredible\u00a0 ability to combine concepts and narratives with the exceptional skills needed to create these complex\u00a0 works, which has been a constant of this institution.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project stems from one of Hirst\u2019s most original projects of the last twenty years: Treasures\u00a0from\u00a0 the\u00a0Wreck\u00a0of the\u00a0Unbelievable, which was exhibited for the first time in 2017 in Venice at Palazzo Gras si and Punta della Dogana. Here, he worked with a variety of materials \u2013 natural, technological, and\u00a0 precious \u2013 with exceptional technique and skill. Made from marble, bronze, coral, rock crystal, and\u00a0 semi-precious stones, and inserted among the masterpieces of the Galleria\u2019s collection, these works\u00a0 celebrate the desire for variety held by the museum\u2019s founder, Cardinal Scipione Borghese. His fantasy\u00a0 had been to go beyond categories, not only among the arts, but also those of fiction and reality.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The exhibition also presents a group of paintings from Hirst\u2019s 2016 series titled\u00a0<\/span><b>Colour Space<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which\u00a0 constitutes both a development of his Spot\u00a0Paintings\u00a0and a retrospection of the first work of that series,\u00a0 in which the spots were painted freely. Colour Space\u00a0shows the infiltration, in Hirst\u2019s words, of \u201chuman\u00a0 elements\u201d. These works are like \u201ccells under a microscope\u201d. They refute the idea of a unified image; they\u00a0 float in space, bumping into and merging with one another, with a sense of movement that contradicts\u00a0 the stasis of the canvas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Damien\u00a0Hirst<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0was born in 1965 in Bristol, grew up in Leeds, and from 1986 to 1989 studied Fine Art at\u00a0 Goldsmiths College in London. In 1988 he conceived and curated the group exhibition\u00a0Freeze, which\u00a0 became a springboard not only for Hirst, but for an entire generation of young British artists. Since the\u00a0 late 1980s, Hirst has created installations, sculptures, paintings, and drawings that explore the complex\u00a0 relationships between art, beauty, religion, science, life, and death. Through work that includes the\u00a0 iconic shark in formaldehyde, The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living (1991)\u00a0 and For the Love of God (2007), a platinum cast of a skull set with 8,601 flawless pav\u00e9-set diamonds, he\u00a0 investigates and challenges contemporary belief systems, and dissects the uncertainties at the heart of\u00a0 human experience.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 1987, over 90 solo Damien Hirst exhibitions have taken place worldwide, and he has been includ ed in over 300 group shows. In 2012, Tate Modern, London presented a major retrospective survey of\u00a0 Hirst\u2019s work in conjunction with the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Hirst\u2019s other solo exhibitions include\u00a0 Qatar Museums Authority, ALRIWAQ Doha (2013\u20132014); Palazzo Vecchio, Florence (2010); Oceano graphic Museum, Monaco (2010); Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (2008); Astrup Fearnley Museet f\u00fcr Mod erne Kunst, Oslo (2005); Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Naples (2004); Palazzo Grassi and Punta della\u00a0 Dogana, Pinault Collection, Venice (2017), amongst others. In 1995\u00a0Hirst won the Turner\u00a0Prize.
