IN NOVA CORPORA. BEING METAMORPHOSIS. SINGING METAMORPHOSES BETWEEN EROS, LIFE, AND DEATH

In view of the opening of the exhibition Metamorphoses. Ovid and the Arts, scheduled for June 23, Galleria Borghese is launching a rich program of initiatives designed to accompany the public in discovering the theme of the exhibition. An engaging journey that invites visitors to approach the fascinating world of metamorphoses, offering moments of in-depth study, reflection, and dialogue between art, myth, and transformation.

On April 15, at the museum Portico from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, the performance In Nova Corpora. Being Metamorphosis. Singing Metamorphoses between eros, life, and death will take place, aiming to lead us back to the contemporary world through narratives and visions that surface from the depths of memory and the unconscious: the stories of myth. A myth that weaves events and places into a suspended tale, beyond time and space, and which, despite crossing centuries, returns intact in its evocative power.

The event unfolds as an itinerary marked by mythical figures and events drawn from Ovid’s Metamorphoses, re-read and reinterpreted through original music, readings from the work, and reflections dedicated to the Latin author. Serving as a bridge between the classicism of myth and its resonance in the present will be singers, authors, and poets of the International School of the Theater of Jesters (Scuola Internazionale di Teatro dei Giullari), directed by David Riondino, who recently passed away. Founded in 2025, the School is a project promoted by the National Committee for the Celebration of the Eighth Centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi, chaired by Davide Rondoni, together with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Rieti. It serves as a national reference point for the research and promotion of popular performing arts.

The performance involves a heterogeneous ensemble of artists: singers, musicians, and songwriters who will give a new voice to classical myths through music; a narrator who will interpret the original texts; and an expert on the work and mythology, who will guide the audience along the narrative path, weaving together suggestions of psychology, literature, and history.

The performance begins at 5:30 PM and is accessed directly from the Portico of the Gallery. Participation is free and reservation is mandatory at this link, subject to availability. The duration is approximately 50 minutes.
