HANS OP DE BEECK. IN SILENT CONVERSATION WITH CORREGGIO

HANS OP DE BEECK. IN SILENT CONVERSATION WITH CORREGGIO

The Belgian artist Hans Op de Beeck is the protagonist of the third exhibition of the Contemporary Commisions project, which promotes experimentation with and reflection on the large artistic heritage of the Borghese Collection.

The artist created his “In Silent Conversation with Correggio” project specifically for this occasion.. Meditating on the Galleria Borghese’s already closed “Correggio and Antiquity” exhibition, he establishes a silent conversation with the Renaissance master. Through free associations and the use of photography, he isolates, transposes, and abstracts figures, settings, objects, and details from Correggio’s paintings, synthesizing them in new compositions. Op de Beeck is attracted by a kind of silent, sweet, and sensual melancholy running through Correggio’s work that the installation is meant bring out.
