In this new video Adriano Aymonino, Professor of Art History at Buckingham University, delves into Giovanni Campi’s “Bacchanal of Putti,” part of the exhibition “Timeless Wonder.Painting on Stone in Rome between the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries.”
Made of lapis lazuli and Belgian black, the work is one of the most eloquent examples of the Borghese family’s interest not only in rare and precious stones, but also in technical expertise.
